LORELAI: Mom, Rory’s birthday is next Friday.

Another retcon – at the start of the series, Rory was already sixteen. Her age was alluded to several times, and she already had her driver’s licence, which meant that her birthday must have been at least three months earlier. It was decided it was time for a birthday episode, and so Rory’s age was suddenly pushed back.
