RORY: Have you guys heard from Paris? … She’s been gone for five days.
Paris had her very public meltdown on a Friday, so if she’s been missing for five days, it would be Wednesday. Or Friday, if Rory isn’t counting the weekend. However, it actually appears to be Thursday, which isn’t five days from Friday, no matter how you count it. Yes, Daniel Palladino is not so hot on timelines.

I don’t wanna defend Palladino, really, but I feel like I can amuse you with some cultural insanity. Here goes nothing: in French, the phrase for “it’s been 2 weeks” translates to “It’s been 15 days”. This made somewhat sense to me as I figured that the french word for 15 is one syllable and the one for 14 is more: quinze vs. quatorze, and French people are prone to just shorten things for the sake of quickness.
However, at some point I found out they do the same for “it’s been a week”, saying “It’s been eight days”. At this point I could not explain this and had to google, because sept is the same amount of syllables as eight, so there goes my theory.
There’s been more people being stunned by French’s inability to count, but the official explanation is that they count the actual day before, as in this example the day Paris was seen. This makes no sense to me either and I violently repress this knowledge, but in some cases I remember, and maybe Daniel Palladino is just insane in a French way about time (in this instance).
